Chelsea Townhouse

Set within a stucco-fronted townhouse in Chelsea, this duplex apartment was transformed into a richly layered home for a young client with a bold, expressive and softly feminine sense of style.
The brief called for an interior that felt warm, playful and characterful, with colour and pattern used to soften the architecture and create a more intimate, lived-in atmosphere.

Wallpaper and fabric were central to the scheme. Rather than treating pattern as an accent, it was allowed to lead the design, bringing rhythm and visual energy throughout the apartment. A palette of carefully balanced tones tempers the proportions of each room, while bespoke furniture, much of it designed specifically for the space, anchors the key rooms and brings a tailored, residential quality to the interiors.

Lighting was approached as a decorative layer rather than something purely functional. In the lower level, wall lights and accent lighting bring warmth and intimacy, while statement pendants and patterned shades introduce character and colour on the main floor. Art and objects were curated to reflect the client's personality, combining ceramics, paintings and personal pieces so the home feels authentic rather than overly styled.

Scale and proportion played an important role throughout, particularly when introducing statement pieces, keeping the interiors balanced and comfortable rather than overpowering. Rather than relying on trends, the scheme was built around the client's lifestyle and personality, allowing the home to feel authentic and long-lasting.
